We are seeking a Functional Safety Manager to join our team in the railway domain. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our railway systems in accordance with industry standards, specifically EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, and EN 50159. While candidates with expertise in these standards are preferred, we welcome applicants who are enthusiastic about functional safety and willing to learn and apply these standards.
Our state-of-the-art embedded computer systems are used in various applications including but not limited to main and auxiliary computers in rail vehicles, human-machine interfaces in rail vehicles, power converter control systems, safety systems in railway infrastructure, primary equipment condition monitoring, power system protective devices, and safety systems in robotized logistics. Thousands of our systems installed worldwide in the most demanding environments reliably help generate and distribute electricity and transport people and freight. Key responsibilities:
- Functional Safety Leadership: Lead the functional safety activities throughout the entire lifecycle of our railway systems, from concept to decommissioning
- Compliance with EN 50126: Ensure that our projects comply with EN 50126, which defines the requirements for the specification and demonstration of reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety (RAMS) for railway systems
- Compliance with EN 50128: Ensure that our software development processes adhere to EN 50128, which provides guidelines for developing safety-critical software within railway control and protection systems
- Compliance with EN 50129: Oversee the application of EN 50129, which pertains to the safety assurance of signaling, control, and communication systems
- Compliance with EN 50159: Ensure compliance with EN 50159, which addresses communication networks and systems in railways, including requirements for safety-related data transmission
- Safety Management: Develop and implement safety management plans, safety cases, and safety assessments per the above standards
- Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments, including hazard identification, risk analysis, and risk evaluation, to identify and mitigate safety-related issues
- Safety Integrity Levels (SIL): Determine the SIL requirements for safety functions and ensure that they are met in accordance with the standards
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of all safety-related activities, including safety plans, reports, and hazard logs
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, developers, and project managers, to integrate safety measures into the project development process
- Training and Awareness: Promote functional safety awareness within the organization and train team members as necessary
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously monitor and improve the functional safety processes and practices to enhance the overall safety performance
