Opis posla

The Danube Commission (DC), an international organisation based in Budapest, announces that the position of "Counsellor for Nautical matters" will become vacant on 1 July 2027. The selection process will take place between May and December 2026. Core responsibilities: - Works under the direction of the Chief Engineer - Advises the Commission and supports its work, and maintains permanent contact with the authorities of the Member States, international organisations, and sector stakeholders - Coordinates and supports the work of experts in the field of information technology in inland waterway transport from the perspective of operational vessel management - Prepares proposals, information, reports, and publications within the scope of competence - Prepares and updates documents of the Commission in the following areas: 1. Designation of navigation routes 2. Rules of navigation (Basic Provisions Relating to the Navigation on the Danube (DFND), local navigation rules/maritime radio) 3. Rules of river surveillance 4. Inland navigation security issues 5. Radio communication issues (Handbook on Radiocommunication for Inland Navigation - General Section/Regional Section (Cooperation with the RAINWAT Committee)) - Supports the Member States in developing a joint position within the framework of the CESNI/TI standards and recommendations and ensures the communication of this position in the following areas: 1. Use of new technologies and application of new methods for vessel navigation, i.e., automated navigation, remote control of vessels, use of Track Guidance Assistants for Inland Navigation (TGAIN), exchange of information for communication intended course (Intention Sharing) 2. Increasing cybersecurity - Monitors and, if necessary, initiates the publication of different publications, manuals, handbooks, and other reference materials for navigation purposes - Analyses economic and statistical data from Member States of the Commission with a view to publication, comparing them with key figures from other river basins - Prepares documents of the Commission in the field of navigation economics and statistics, as well as the economic conditions of inland waterway transport

Potrebno obrazovanje, znanja i vještine

- University degree or equivalent vocational training (in the case of citizens of Danube States where the required higher education is not available), diploma from a qualifying higher technical education institution - Extensive work experience, especially in Danube navigation - Sound technical knowledge in the use of new vessel technologies and the application of methods for navigation on the Danube and other major waterways - Editorial skills, precise written and spoken communication. - Comprehensive IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office applications - Good command of written and spoken English and knowledge of one of the official languages of the Danube Commission is obligatory. - High degree of teamwork, initiative, and motivation This call for applications is open exclusively to applicants who are citizens of Austria, Germany, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Slovakia, or Ukraine.
