The Office Administrator at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Croatia is responsible for direct interaction with patients during their registration process as well as performing critical back-office functions such as patient bill submission to payors. This role involves managing patient admissions, scheduling appointments, collecting and submitting billing information, and triaging phone calls. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, experience in the medical field, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Responsibilities:
- Collect and verify patient billing information, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Prepare and submit patient bills to payors, following up on any discrepancies or issues
- Oversee the patient admission process, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and efficiently
- Manage patient appointment schedules, coordinating with medical staff to optimize patient flow and minimize wait times
- Answer and triage phone calls and emails, directing inquiries to the appropriate department or staff member
- Provide administrative support to medical staff, including managing correspondence, maintaining records, and handling office supplies
- Ordering medical and office supplies at the direction of the Operations Director
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and policies
- Follow procedures related to patient assistance and the management of clinical information according to GDPR rules
- Assist in training and supervising junior administrative staff, providing guidance and support as needed
- Prepare and present reports on office operations, patient admissions, and billing activities, as requested
- Provide patients, visitors, and family members with information related to their care and facilitate the patient’s journey within the Cancer Center
- Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies and behaviors
- Perform other role-related activities as needed
