Responsibilities
- Vessel and Office IT Support Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth and secure operation of the company’s IT infrastructure and providing technical support to offices and vessel users, including installing, configuring and updating computer hardware, software and operating systems in all offices under his/her responsibility and vessel environment, in accordance with standing Company IT policies
Office IT Support:
- Deliver first-line support to office staff for hardware, software, and network issues
- Manage user accounts, email services, and permissions using platforms such as Microsoft 365 and Active Directory
- Monitor and maintain office IT infrastructure including printers, VoIP systems, switches, and routers
- Provide support for remote access solutions and video conferencing tools
- Administer and monitor company-wide networks and server systems (both vessel and office)
- Maintain backups, perform data recovery operations, and ensure data integrity
- Implement and monitor IT security measures and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IMO Cyber Risk Management guidelines)
- Prepare and maintain IT documentation including network diagrams, system configurations, and support logs
- Assist in audits and ensure compliance with internal IT policies and maritime regulations
- Participate in IT projects such as system migrations, fleet-wide software deployments, and hardware standardization
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and service providers for procurement, support, and warranty issues
- Provide basic IT training to seafarers and office staff
- Promote awareness on cybersecurity best practices
Vessel IT Support:
- Provide remote and on-site IT support for all vessels under management
- Maintain and troubleshoot onboard IT infrastructure including servers, workstations, satellite communication systems (VSAT, FleetBroadband), and networks
- Install, configure, and update vessel software and hardware systems
- Ensure cybersecurity protocols are implemented and followed onboard, including antivirus and firewall configurations
- Assist with planned maintenance and upgrades during dry-docking or port stays
- Maintain continuous communication with the Vessel Manager and Technical Department to ensure alignment on IT requirements, priorities, and support needs across the fleet
Authority:
- Vessel and Office IT Support Engineer has the authority to act on the directives of the Vessel and Office IT Supervisor to ensure smooth and secure operation of all the offices under his care and vessel IT infrastructure
