Opis posla

The Danube Commission (DC), an international organisation based in Budapest, announces that the position of "Counsellor for technical matters relating to inland navigation vessels" will become vacant on 1 July 2027. The selection process will take place between May and December 2026. - Works under the direction of the Chief Engineer. - Advises the Commission and maintains continuous contact with authorities of the Member States, international organizations, and sector stakeholders. - Prepares Commission documents on technical requirements for vessels and their equipment, radar and radio systems, and modern navigation aids. - Prepares Commission documents on the transport of dangerous goods and participates in the Joint Meeting of Experts (WP.15/AC.2 UNECE) for the Regulations annexed to the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways (ADN). - Prepares Commission documents on equipping vessels with technical means to prevent pollution of Danube waters. - Prepares documents on air pollution prevention and greenhouse gas emission reduction from vessels operating on the Danube. - Participates in updating the European Standard for Technical Requirements for Inland Navigation Vessels (ES-TRIN) within the framework of the European Committee for drawing up Standards in the field of Inland Navigation (CESNI). - Contributes to projects, initiatives, and studies dealing with greenhouse gas emission reduction in inland navigation, adaptation of the Danube fleet to new markets, and adaptation to low navigation levels. - Provides expertise and support to national administrations of Danube states in cooperation with fleet operators on innovation and implementation activities. - Prepares and implements expert meetings on the modernization of the Danube fleet to achieve the use of alternative propulsion systems and climate-neutral fuels, electrification of navigation, higher energy efficiency, and lower fuel consumption. - Participates in European initiatives dealing with the legal framework for low-emission alternative propulsion systems and fuels and their market introduction. Potrebno obrazovanje, znanja i vještine

- University degree, diploma from a qualifying higher education institution, preferably in shipbuilding or marine engineering - Practical experience in work relating to low-emission alternative energy sources and energy efficiency in inland navigation (shipyard, shipbuilding institute, technology provider, ship classification society, or government authorities) - Knowledge of relevant EU initiatives and EU funding programmes, and experience with relevant EU-funded projects - Editorial skills, precise written and verbal communication - Comprehensive IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office applications - Good command of written and spoken English and knowledge of one of the official languages of the Danube Commission is obligatory - High degree of teamwork, initiative, and motivation This call for applications is open exclusively to applicants who are citizens of Austria, Germany, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Slovakia, or Ukraine.
