About the job:
Ensure that vessels are managed and operated in full compliance with all applicable Flag State, Group and Company requirements, that effective procedure is in place to monitor performance and compliance, and that systems for dealing with shipping emergencies are in place and regularly tested.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for monitoring and controlling the performance and condition of allocated vessels, ensuring that they are operated fully in accordance with established policies and procedures, with costs maintained at an industry comparative basis
- Apply cost-effective preventive planned maintenance techniques on board allocated vessels, while retaining the flexibility to make spot decisions on emergency or voyage repairs as the need arises
- Carry out vessel visits as per company’s procedures so as to monitor, advise, instruct, motivate and report on the performance of senior ship staff and to achieve the most efficient control of personnel and machinery in safeguarding the vessel, crew, cargo, environment and reputation
- Assist the Fleet Manager, as required, with the preparation of annual operating budgets
- Monitor and manage individual vessel expenditure within agreed budgets
- Monitor the ordering and consumption of spare gear on allocated vessels
- Prepare refit specifications for allocated vessels. Plan and manage refits in accordance with company procedures, ensuring that all required processes are completed in a timely manner and that costs are properly managed
- Recognize sub-standard performance and engage Marine HR to investigate and evaluate ship staff performance and as/when required provide guidance/coaching and produce PIP
