We are seeking an experienced Yacht Accountant to manage the financial operations of luxury yachts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, accurate financial reporting, and efficient management of day-to-day financial transactions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in yacht accounting, experience with international clients, and a thorough understanding of industry-specific practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management & Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledgers, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports for yacht owners and stakeholders
- Perform variance analysis, budget forecasting, and cash flow management
- Track and report on charter income, operating expenses, and capital expenditures
2. Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Collaborate with yacht captains, managers, and owners to create annual operating budgets
- Monitor actual performance against the budget and provide variance explanations
- Prepare financial forecasts based on operating trends, cash flow requirements, and future capital projects
3. Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process invoices, payments, and other transactions related to yacht operations
- Ensure timely payment of all yacht-related expenses and manage relationships with suppliers and vendors
- Reconcile charter income with contracts and track outstanding payments
4. Compliance & Record-Keeping:
- Maintain financial records in compliance with accepted accounting standards and industry regulations
- Ensure that all financial records are readily available for inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews
5. Month-End & Year-End Closing:
- Complete month-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Prepare year-end closing statements and financial summaries for yacht owners
6. Reconciliation & Audit:
- Perform bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Support the audit process by preparing necessary financial documents and liaising with auditors
7. Ad Hoc Financial Projects:
- Assist with special projects such as new yacht purchases, refit cost tracking, or insurance claim preparation
- Provide financial insights for decision-making on refits, upgrades, or operational changes
