Major Functions: 1) Implements project activities according to project workplans 2) Maintains and develops partnerships and stakeholder engagement according to project workplans 3) Supports and development of Restoration Task Force 4) Supports the MDD Landscape lead in the implementation of the project, including monitoring and reporting at project level, and proactively signaling project management about opportunities and challenges in project implementation 5) Supports fundraising for program in accordance with WWF Adria conservation strategy Major Duties: - In collaboration with the WWF Adria MDD Lead conduct monitoring activities and baseline assessments including initial local biodiversity assessments in TBR MDD project target areas. - In collaboration with the WWF Adria MDD Lead, initiate procurement procedures for the hiring of external experts and consultants needed in TBR MDD target areas and acquisitions of assets and means that would be used in restoration and monitoring. - Produces assessments on state of biodiversity response indicators, with baseline assessments and monitoring indicators. - Conduct environmental and social economic screening in intervention area. - Coordinate production and managing data in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and ensure that the data collected is in avoidance with the predesigned methodology and stored correctly. - Produce spatial, environmental and socioeconomic analysis and reporting the progress to the Program offices and partner organizations. - Coordinate, share knowledge, experience and methodology on monitoring activities with the partners to contribute the methodology complacencies within all other restoration activities in the TBR MDD area. - Collaboration in the drafting of new riverine conservation/restoration projects. - Works with WWF Adria team to develop conservation component of WWF Adria Strategy, in alignment with WWF Global Goals; develops required input for internal monitoring systems, and participates in the progress monitoring, results evaluation and mid-year / end-year reporting following the WWF Adria’s monitoring timeline. - Maps key experts on restoration in target area sectors relevant for MDD (agriculture, forestry, water management, nature conservation). - Collaborates closely with WWF team members and all relevant authorities across MDD countries to ensure proper, coordinated and aligned recommendations are proposed to relevant responsible authorities. - Collaborates with project team and the Endangered Landscapes Programme Science Manager to assure proper implementation of the restoration pilot project. - Manage and coordinate the restoration activities, experts’ guidelines and other monitoring and restoration reporting and deliverables material, including supervision and guidance of implementing activities, consultants and experts with a view to achieving project results. - Supports the establishment and development of the 5-country TBR MDD cross-sectoral Restoration Task Force. - Supports the preparation of the knowledge exchange/capacity building. - Support the preparation of all restoration/monitoring related project documentation. - Supports delivery of community engagement activities in TBR MDD target area, including VR outreach, school programs, students engagement and local micro-projects by the project workplans. - Promotes the project in the scope of other initiatives/meetings, etc. - Represents WWF Adria at expert meetings and conferences internationally, regionally and nationally. - Responds Support Communication officer in to media enquiries and provides interviews when needed. - Adheres to WWF Adria quality assurance framework, operational guidelines, and administrative procedures. - Supports WWF Adria fundraising by identifying new donor opportunities and new lines of work to pursue.

Potrebno obrazovanje, znanja i vještine

- Four years of work experience nature conservation project implementation with broad knowledge of the Adria region geography, societies, economies, politics and pertinent issues of conservation and development. - Advanced degree in one of the following: environmental management, natural resource management, biology, ecology or similar. Master’s degree would be considered as asset. - Proven experience in the implementation of monitoring and data collection including wildlife surveys. - Experience in the use of geographic information systems (GIS) and spatial analysis including the experience of applicable use of geolocation devices and data analysis is preferable. Required Skills and Competencies: - Passionate environmentalist/ecologists and promoter of nature conservation needs. - Good knowledge of the environmental biodiversity in the TBR MDD project area. - Ability to think critically and synthetically across fields and topics related to sustainable development and climate change in the MDD area. - Excellent oral and written Croatian and English communication skills are required. - Ability to work in a dynamic environment with local partners, experts, institutions, governmental, NGOs, community groups, and other stakeholders - Good inter-personal and organizational skills, including self-motivation and an ability to initiate actions and to follow through to satisfactory completion - An ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. - Good team work skills; ability to work independently and deliver results. - A good level of computer literacy, - Understanding and applying WWF social and environmental safeguards - Aligning with the core values of the WWF: courage, collaboration, respect and integrity - Demonstrates WWF behaviors in ways of working: strive for impact, listen deeply, collaborate openly and innovate fearlessly.
