Vermilion Energy has an exciting opportunity within the Central and Eastern Europe Business Unit seeking an Accountant. Based in Zagreb, Croatia, this role will be and be an integral part of the CEE Business Unit. The successful candidate will join a team that values its people and provides work with purpose. This position is a permanent full-time position.

Responsibilities include preparing accounting entries and reconciling various GL accounts to ensure the proper allocation of expenses. Participation in audits and periodical closing tasks. Calculating tax payments and returns. Preparing and examining financial records, assuring information is up to date and accurate.

What you will do

Serve as a first check for incoming invoices.
Review, register, and process invoices in the accounting system and ensure proper approval cycle is followed
Preparation and issuing of outgoing invoices
Check weekly cash requirements and invoices for payment
Properly allocate costs to projects
Check and record employee expenses
Maintain the accuracy of intercompany transactions within the group
Prepare monthly payroll entries based on information from an external provider
Maintain local accounting system to meet local regulations
Vendor balances reconciliation, GL reconciliation
Ensure compliance with local tax and accounting legislation
Prepare month-end closing entries
Reconciliation and control of the VAT declarations and statistical reports
Participate in statutory, internal, and tax audits
Support the Senior Accountant and Finance Manager in various analysis and reporting

What you will bring

University or college degree in Finance or Accounting
Relevant job experience of more than 4 years
Experience with SAP systems is highly valued and considered a significant advantage for this position
Knowledge of Croatian GAAP, fiscal and regulatory system
Fluency in Croatian and English
Strong MS Office skills
