The Chief Therapist, Radiation Oncology will be responsible for day-to-day operations and management of the Department of Radiation Oncology at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Croatia. Responsibilities include the management of clinical operations and practicing as a radiation therapist delivering treatment. The Chief Therapist identifies opportunities to improve patient safety and participates in projects and programs designed to reduce errors, improve processes, and to create a mindfulness culture for patient safety. Clinical Operations Duties: - Performs treatment, simulation, and fabrication of immobilization devices and shielding, radiosurgery, and brachytherapy procedures when applicable, according to written prescription and treatment plan - Performs measurements for use during treatment planning calculation. Collects and documents data acquired during the simulation procedure and accurately inputs treatment-related data into the electronic medical record - Coordinates the operations of the Radiation Oncology Department(s) - Ensures delivery of radiation therapy is accurate and in accordance with the written prescription and treatment plan - Validates the quality of radiation treatment delivery through a systematic program of process measurement - Investigates and reports non-conformance to established treatment standards to appropriate departmental personnel - Collaborates with physicians and other departmental personnel to plan and implement quality initiatives to improve treatment delivery standards - Assists in the development and implementation of new programs/services and monitors the efficiency of these implementations - Oversees patient scheduling for treatment planning and daily treatment visits - Establishes work schedules and assignments for the technical staff - Works together with the cancer center director to establish/accomplish goals and provides leadership support whenever they are - absent - Works in conjunction with joint venture partners and associated administrators when applicable - Completes clinical competencies annually as required - Has a good understanding of information systems and is fluent in all computer applications necessary to perform their job - Maintains professional rapport with technologists, nurses, and all other personnel assigned to the department Quality Assurance/Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Program Duties: - Prioritizes patient safety - Works collaboratively with the site Medical Director, other Radiation Oncologists, and all staff to maintain high standards for quality service - Oversees the department QA program and establishes meaningful, measurable QA programs to meet regulatory demands - Oversees departmental CQI Activities.  Conducts CQI meetings, sets goals and objectives for improvement, and measures results utilizing benchmarks/scorecards. Results are documented in accordance with UPMC standards - Acts as a liaison between vendors and UPMC Hillman Cancer Centers functional areas Regulatory Affairs Duties: - Coordinates the regulatory compliance activities and maintains continuous departmental readiness for inspections and surveys Acts as a liaison to the Radiation Safety Officer, medical physicists, and medical director. Coordinates safety compliance program - Acts as a liaison to vendors regarding the maintenance of all equipment - Implements or coordinates training programs to meet the needs of the staff - Ensures staff meet educational requirements and continue to maintain appropriate licensure and certification Fiscal Duties: - Supervises and oversees site budget, including operational and capital budgets in collaboration with the Medical Director and cancer center director. - Monitors and analyzes financial performance, including profitability and volume metrics. Implements appropriate changes to increase efficiencies, enhance revenue, and control expenses - Maintains staff at budgeted levels or can justify increases/decreases based on site volumes - Maintains supply and total expenses at budgeted levels or can justify increases/decreases based on site volumes - Over sees billing and revenue capture initiatives working in collaboration with the site's Medical Director and cancer center director - Working in collaboration with the appropriate personnel including the UPMC Cancer Centers leadership team, oversees new construction, renovation projects, and business utilization. Assesses existing needs and plans for new programs to meet the site's needs *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors *Performs other duties as assigned

Potrebno obrazovanje, znanja i vještine

- 3-5 years of progressive management experience preferred - Completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program required - Five years’ experience in Radiation Therapy - Good communication and interpersonal skills necessary - Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking both English and Croatian is required
